A UFC card can be good, or it can be the kind of night that reminds you why people became fans in the first place. We’re talking about a stacked run of violence, clean finishes, and style clashes that feel like a highlight reel with consequences. The theme we keep coming back to is discipline: the fighters who stick to their strengths get rewarded, and the ones who reach for “a moment” get punished fast
Fast Take On A Wild Card
SPEAKER_00It's later LA The fight episode 80. Israel Anasiayan versus Joe Hyfer. Let's start from the bottom and make our way to the top. Listen, this card was action-packed. This card was better than a BMF card. This card is exactly why people tune in for UFC. This is exactly why the UFC has fans. We had the old guard challenged by the younger guard, and a lot of these younger fighters learned some harsh lessons. Now, let's get into Yosuri getting a round three TKO. Just to start off the card. Incredible fight. Lots of blood, lots of damage. It was crazy to see these guys go back and forth. And for Yoseri to get that W. It is action-packed. We're going straight into the next fight. LaRon Douglas gets the gets a TKO in round one, one and done. It is a violent affair here. Listen, I couldn't believe these guys are getting dropped left and right. Ever since Dana put in that 25k bonus, we are going to get fights like this. Talk about going out on going out on a high. We got Michael Chiasa. He defeats Nico Price by round one, rear naked choke. He, man, to fight as long as he has fought, and to leave on his own terms, and to leave on a win, and to make it through the the war zone that is the UFC, the UFC rankings, the UFC fights, the UFC caliber events, and the pressure, and the and just to be one of the guys that beat the guys who've been in there with other guys. He is one of the guys who was always near and dear to the fans. And to see him go out this way was amazing. It's almost like polar opposite of what we're going to have to talk about later on. And it's kind of why I'm speeding through these topics as far as far as these fights, because all these guys won because they stuck to their guns and their tool set that got them to the show. There's some people that we're going to discuss later who forgot how they got here or are chasing a moment. There is no moment to chase but success and victory in a combat situation. Shout out to Michael Chessa. He still knows how to win. And he won on the highest stage, and that is his last fight. He had an incredible career. Shout out to him. Getting to Alexa Grosso versus Macy Barber. Macy Barber is an up-and-coming prospect. Lot of fights she should have been in. She wasn't in. I don't think she should have been in this one. Alexa Grasso has some of the most deadliest boxing in the female division. Haired with her grappling skills is vicious. Vicious, vicious. Round one, TKO drops her and then chokes her out. And Alexa had her knocked out. And this is the power of boxing. This is the power of striking in the MMA. Like a lot of these guys are pit bulls, they're mutts, they don't have a high degree of any one skill set. They mix it all together and they're very good MMA fighters. But the distinction in the power in the class of striking Alexa Grasso has was incompatible with Macy Barber's striking. He's striking because she's looking to wrestle as she strikes to create her strike, more of a brawler than a boxer or a technician, or very well versed in her striking. And when she ran into Alexa Grasso, she ran into a wood chipper. She ran into a blender. She became a smoothie. There was nothing she could do to stop herself from being outclassed that way because she did not know how to defend herself from that. I'm sure that's the straightest jab she's ever had to deal with. And it's not in practice, it's not in sparring, it's not just a boxing round with a boxer at your gym. It's entirely different when the person who you're fighting is an MMA fighter with a deadly skill set that has other tools. You know, she choked her out as soon as she dropped her. Off instinct. That's how she beat Valentina. Off instinct. Soon as Valentina turned her back, she choked her out. So Alexa got the W and is rising back into the ranks. I would love to see her. Because, you know, Valentina, she's getting older. How long can she keep that belt? These young, hungry up and comers. Now we got Joe Piper, a young, hungry uppercarecomer going up against Israel Anasanya, one of my favorite fighters, ball middleweight legend. The problem with Izzy and the way and the reason Joe Piper won is because Izzy was chasing a moment and not the win. Now, if you're a fighter, please learn from this. Izzy, if he loses the moment, he will chase another moment to get it back. And that is why he's losing fight. When he got eye-poked, he should have taken the proper amount of time to recover. Okay? When he lost to Sean Strickland, he should have taken the proper amount of time to recover. Now he's taking the proper amount of time to recover, but he's still chasing moments. You are not in your prime. You need to keep the fight controlled. He had the fight under control. He had the leg compromise of Joe Piffert from round one's work. All you had to do was maintain, not take risks. We are up around and you're an older fighter going up against a young gun who's trying to knock you out. You have to take your time and let some steam come off of those punches. If you want to take more risks, you should have taken risks in round three, not round two, where you're up to. And if you're up to, you need to fight safe. This is an IQ issue with Izzy. Not a skill set or even athleticism. It's just IQ. If he loses a moment, he chases it back. And in that chase, he loses every single time. Even with when he fought DDP, he should have and he could have won that fight. He was winning that fight. There's so many Izzy fights where he's winning and then he loses. Stop chasing the moment, Izzy. Work on your ground game. I'm talking about, I'm talking about a real camp where 75% of that camp, you are getting up from takedowns. You are in jujitsu situations. You are in wrestling situations. And I'm talking about several rounds where all you're doing is that. He won the belt back twice. He's the only man to knock out Pereira. And we see what Pereira is doing now. Izzy should retire, or he needs to change his fight camp, or he needs to address some of the demons in his own mind when he approaches MMA, the UFC, in his own legacy. This is the fight, episode 80. What happened then?
