We break down UFC Fight Night with an eye for the moments that actually change fights, from chaos-driven volume striking to patient coaching that pays off late. We also talk through the messy parts of MMA, including wrestling-heavy control, teammate matchups, and why betting value starts with style reads.
Late Night LA Intro
SPEAKER_00It real rural late in LA fight episode 81. UFC fight night, money, money, condo versus Christian Duncan, old versus the new. Who's gonna get that number 10 rank in the UFC division? Listen, we got Tommy versus Vanelo for the first fight. He gets him out in one, one and done. This guy was landing punches and bunches, slit knee to one, two, two, body two, controlling and stuffing the takedowns and turning those opportunities to opportunities to create and cause more damage. Chaos, chaos, chaos. That's what his coach was screaming in the corner, and that's what he created on his opponent. He was working him from the bell. And until the fight was over, he broke and damaged a lot of what Manello was trying to do from the bell. It was crazy to see a young, you know, it felt like young Sugarshan O'Malley with volume. And I think that's the biggest difference between this kid, this prospect Tommy, and Sugarshawn. He has volume with his striking. His striking is naturally anti-grapple. Meaning, so as he as he casually uh you know starts his offense, he is denying and making it harder for his opponent to grapple him, and he's punishing any type of grappling being done by his opponent, forcing them to fight his fight, forcing them to strike with the striker. And Tommy, that's how he got his round one and done in his UFC debut. Now, E-Wing defeated Wellmaker on 48-hour notice. He is now defeated his second undefeated fighter by defeating Raphael Estevan in round three TKO fashion. This guy is great. This guy is good. This guy is going to be a problem in a division because he's not being respected by his opponents and his coaching and his talent and his skill is all top tier. He is ready for the UFC. He is ready for anybody they throw his way. Amazing anti-grappling, amazing striking, and he has style points. He makes it look good as well. He's very good for the fans to see. He was hurting him early, but took his time. He's patient. And his coaching is phenomenal. If you listen to his coach, as the fight goes on, his fighter did everything he said. I would like to see how he fares when he has to go into a big main event situation and he can't hear his coach until the bell, until he gets back to the chair. We shall see how that looks. But let's applaud the round three TKO today. Brazy, brazy work. Another undefeated fighter defeated by E Wing. He is going to be a problem. Now, we move on to Abdul getting the rear-necked choke in round one. You gotta shout out Gore for getting that W and his rear-necked choke. I counted him out. Everybody counted him out. He got that rear-necked choke. He outfought his opponent. Now, going back to Abdul, he got that rear-necked choke in round one. These guys weren't playing around. The only fight that was kind of boring is because we had Verna versus Tabitha, and she got wrestle fucked for three rounds. I call it wrestle fuck. You know, it's nothing you can do. You can't do anything with the wrestle. You're fucked. You're not getting up, you're not landing damage, you're not being competitive. You are in that person's realm. And if they can hold you down for that long, then hey, listen, it is what it is. It was a boring fight, but it's also MMA. So we can't be upset when a grappler who is a grappler, known for their grappling, outgrapples and makes the striker stay on their back. Now, Money Monacano had no qualms about hurting his friend Chris Duncan. You know, they train together, they spar together. He's no MVP. Soon as he got out there, he used everything he learned from their sparring and training. If people don't think so, that's why he was able to check all those kicks. He knew Chris Duncan was going to do that. They're on the same mats, they're doing the same sparring drills, they're around each other far too much. And Chris Duncan mentally, emotionally, and physically knew once Bunny Montecano got him on the ground, it was going to be hard pressed for him to get a victory from there. He got beat up on the feet, dropped, put down, hurt. And then slowly but surely worked until he got choked out. Shout out to Money Monticano. He's talking about a lot of stuff in his prep, you know, his post-fight, but we don't care about that. We care about the fight. Episode 81, EOC Fight Night. This one happened just last night. We are catching up. We're going to be on top of the fights from here on. Shout out to us. We also do betting here. We have Money Monacano here for this round two sub. When we get into boxing, I'll tell you about that. If you want to make some money, tap into the Life and Time to Fight podcast. I'm going to start dropping my bet predictions before the fights go down. It's real, real late in LA.
