We break down a packed run of fights from the UK Magnificent 7 card through Fundora vs Thurman, with a focus on how pressure, ring control, and late stoppages decide nights. We also zoom in on Moses Atuma’s rise and ask the uncomfortable question of when toughness turns into long-term damage.

It's Layton LA The fight life of Thomas Network episode 83. Get in here. Boxing. We had a double feature. Atomba versus Franklin. Pondora versus Thurman. There's been a lot of boxing. If you're a boxing fan, it's punches and punches. People are punched drunk. This is real. Nobody's playing around here. Let's get into the Atomba versus Franklin Magnificent 7 card. It was earlier in the day. Nelson Burchall gets the TKO in round nine over Ryan Griffith. I like the UK cards. I like the UK cards. I like UK matchmaking. I like the UK crowd. I like UK fighters. I like everything top to bottom of what the UK does as far as their reboxing, community, culture, and event. Nelson put beating on Ryan Griffin. It was a little bit back and forth. You know, he wasn't in there with no scrub, but he got him out of there in round nine. We get into Brad Paul versus Shaquille Thompson. He gets to round nine. TKO2. There was a lot of violence, a lot of punches and punches, a lot of big guys in there showing why they're in there. A lot of late to be great instead of early wins or early knockouts. They had to work on and break down their opponent. And that's it. So if you're a high-level knockout artist, this is what you must do. This is what Tank Davis does. Slowly but surely, the power keeps adding up and catching up to the opponent to the point that they have to submit or they have to be stopped by either the ref or their own team for their own good. Now we get into Willie Hutchinson versus Ezra Teller, clear UD, outboxing them. Clear. There's a clear difference in technical skill, clear difference in plan execution. And that's what happens when you get UD'd. Your plan was bad, your adaptation was bad, and your opponent maintained his throughout. Now going to Jerome Warburton versus Nathan Haney, another UD, another great fight, another bout of boxing where real estate really decided this entire match, at least to me. Jerome outworked him. He outpunched him. And he put him any and he controlled the fight. Controlling the fight and boxing ring, you know, you gotta be the ring general in there. You have to control the real estate in there. The pockets in which it's safe and not safe to be at in that arena. Now, Moses Atuma is a rising heavyweight young guy. I only think he's like, I don't even think he's 22 yet. He puts down Franklin in round five. He was putting a beating on this man. I really hope none of the older fighters get in there with him. Even Usek say, let's just give it to him because he's gonna hurt anybody he's in there with. He's very dangerous, very fast for a heavyweight, very composed for his age, very diligent for his age as well. It's crazy the advancement I'm starting to see in Moses. I think he's better than Jared Anderson. I think he's better than the other top rank heavyweight. I don't think there's many heavyweights his age that can beat him. And I think those are the fights he should go after now instead of later. You know, I know they want to build these guys up, but it's the era of let's get it. Let's get it while we're in our 20s. Now, let's move on to Fondora versus Thurman. Listen, man, Kevin Newman gets the majority decision over Elijah Garcia. It was a sloppy, ugly fight. Any man's fight to me, that's how I saw it. Go into Gergen versus Cesar. He gets a round five TKO. He just put hurting on that man. There's nothing you can really do about that. Too much punishment, too much damage, too much heart for your own good. And that's kind of the story of this whole card. You know, as we go up here, these guys are getting beat left and right. You know, Hernandez defeated Terrell, Gasha, round four, damage, power. See, boxing is very brutal once we get into these knockouts, in these TKOs, into why it's one of the most dangerous sports. You know, he put a real hurting on this young man, and they had to stop that fight. Now we get to Johannes Tellus defeating Brian Mendoza, and that's a UD, and that's the difference in boxing. You know, some people can survive and still lose handedly, and some people can't even survive, and we get TKOs and knockout. Now, let's talk about TKOs and knockouts and what people can survive and what they believe they can achieve. Keith Thurman is a champion. Keith Durman is one time. Keith Durman is one of the guys I grew up watching. His era of boxing, era of fighter. He went against all the top guys of his era, or at least tried to when he wasn't injured. I don't think this matchup against Fondora was in his favor. Fondora is a young, hungry champ. He is a genetic freak as far as the boxing community is seen. He's six and some change at middleweight, and he's deadlier inside than he is out. So people think their biggest way to get to this kid is inside, and then he's dangerous there. And then as the fight wears on, he just started to put a certain amount of punishment and beating on Keith Thurman that just wasn't pretty. Probably beat him into retirement. I don't think he should take any fights for the next year or so after this type of fight. He took a lot of punishment and he's mad at the ref. I understand you're a warrior. I get it, but sir, you were done. If Fondora had another round, he just would have started taking off years. He probably took a year or two off of you just because of that. There's a certain amount of beating. Like even when he fought Robert the Ghost Guerrera, like he took a lot of damage in that fight. Both fighters did. Fondora looked fine. Thurman looks like he needs some rest, and I think he needs to retire. Shout out to Fondora. I think he needs to fight people his age and people in their prime. I think is enough protecting him from the PBC or whatever other channels. I think Errol Spence is gonna get out of his fight. He's gonna get a fight with Tim Tazoo, and then we'll see what he does there. This is this is episode 83 of the fight life of Times Network. Boxing.
