Conor Benn got the win, but the real story was how the fight looked. We break down Benn vs. Regis Prograis as a showcase that turned into a stress test, the damage Benn absorbed, and why those same openings could be costly against the best at 147.

We also give women’s boxing its proper shine, from the Claressa Shields vs. Lauren Price conversation to Caroline Dubois’ rise and the growing strength of the UK scene. The talent is there, and now the visibility and investment are starting to match it.

Then we hit the heavyweight picture: the energy from the UK card, Tyson Fury’s return, Usyk’s style threat, and how Joshua’s pacing shapes the road to the division’s biggest fights

Late Night Intro And Boxing Vibes

Pat pendant it's Late in LA. We got the fight, episode 86. Boxing. Ding ding ding. Listen, let's start it off right. First and foremost, Carissa Shields and Lauren Price faced off April 4th. This is going to be the next fight for both fighters. I still don't think anybody in boxing got anything for her. Carissa Shields is too fast, accurate, sharp, two-time Olympic gold medalist. I think her pedigrees is too high. The only thing that's going to stop her now is AIDS, and she is getting up there. Price look right, but the price isn't right. I still don't think she has what it takes to be the Carissa Shields. And I just don't see it happening yet. I haven't seen any decline in which Carissa is out there taking shots to win the fight like Price did. She took some shots to win that fight. She took a lot of, and she took some damage to win that what that fight. And Carissa Shields is going back and forth with heavyweight fighters, bigger fighters than her. She's coming out clean. So I just don't see where she's going to win that. Like she's not going to outbox her. She's not going to outpower her. She's not going to outspeed her. She don't got more heart. So what are we going to do? Now, we got Carolina Dubois. She just beat Terry Hopper by unanimous decision. Dropped her. Her into her weight class and what MVP promotions is doing with female fighters is next tier. It's a very exciting time. Her brother is Daniel Du Bois, the heavyweight champ, well, a former heavyweight champ who's going to be fighting soon as well. So it's a fighting family and a legacy rooted in the UK. Speaking of the UK, we got to get into the Tyson Fury main event card that happened on Netflix and Connor Ben versus Regis Podragas. First and foremost, shout out to the ladies. They're doing well. They're doing great. Female boxing is probably the best it's been since Lala Ali was one of the champions. So that is a role model, especially for young black women, if you were looking for role models outside of music, outside of politics that may be a little bit more dicey and a lot more dishonest. These are some real champions to look to. Now, getting into this, we have Justin Honey defeating Fraser Clark on a Tyson Fury main card that happened just this weekend. Listen, this is a dog. It was a dog fight. Big boys fighting, big boy brawling, big boy fights. It was ugly. It wasn't the prettiest thing we've seen. It reminded me of Wilder versus Chizora, but these guys are way younger, so the damage is a lot more. Now, Justice wins. Fraser's coming off of a loss. The sporter box is brutal. That majority decision. It was very much a pick'em fight. A lot of damage was accrued and given to both fighters. So I can see it going either way. Now, as we move up, we got Richard getting the TKO around five to win the British heavyweight title. Now, the big thing about the UK, man, they got these national titles and this national ranking and all like their national scene is bigger than the U.S.'s world scene. Like you can make a lot of money. It's just a national title holder in the UK. So this is big. Shout out to Richard getting that W in the TKO in round five for the British heavyweight title. Now, this is where we got to put on our thinking caps. First and foremost, let's talk about the business of boxing. Zofa Boxing is a competitor against all other organizations in the boxing landscape. They are taking fighters. One of the fighters they have taken is Counter Ben. He is fighting Regis Pro Jagas, and I am not dumb. I am not stupid. And I also know boxing. Regis is shot. He cannot compete with the higher level guys. Now, what do I mean by this? Higher level guys wash Regis Pedragas. Devin Haney washed him, dropped him, and beat him everywhere for 12 rounds. Now, did Connor Ben win this fight? Yes. Did he take too much damage? Yes. Did he take too long with this level fighter? Yes. Will he take more punishment and damage from fighters at the higher level? Yes, yes, yes. Ryan Garcia is gonna knock this guy out. If he fights Ryan, he's fucked up. It's over. If he fights Shakur, he's gonna get out punched. Out it the the landscape of the divisions he wants to climb, he's fucked. He's talked a lot of shit, but he just was in there with a world-class fighter, just like Chris Eubank Jr. Both of these guys are older fighters. Regis is coming off of a this is a short notice, six-week notice camp. They controlled the weight, they controlled everything. This is supposed to be a showcase moment for Connor Ben and how good he is and how many seats he can fill in the UK crowd scene. And he did help fill seats, and he is a moneymaker. But is he as skilled as the people he's calling out? No. Role would knock him out. Dead ass. Roley will knock him out. Devin Haney will outwork him, outpace him, outbox him, make a little stupid out there. Shakur as well. And then Ryan Garcia or Roley are knocking you out. So who at 147 you think you can really go with? Because you don't want to fight any, he don't want to fight in Bali or any of the big 160 guys. He's not fighting a 160 guy. Maybe Errol Spence beats Errol Spence is supposed to fight Tim Tazoo when he comes out of retirement. If he beats him, make that fight. Now why am I saying that? Connor Ben has only good looked good against wash world champions that are over the hill. And with crazy weight situations. So what is he really? We will never know. He is protected. He is protected. He did not look world champion level out there against Regis. Okay? If Regis was a couple years younger, this would have been a different set, this would have been a different result. Connor Ben is at risk. Connor Ben got that fight and he got that money and he's over there with Zoo for boxing. I pray they protect him from these fighters, man. Because if Connor Ben gets in there from Shakur, he's gonna get outpointed, outboxed, outworked. If he goes in there with Ryan Garcia, he's gonna get knocked out. Rolly's gonna knock him out too. And then it's Devin. So I don't see anybody at the weight class. He's calling people out. I just don't see it. And then it's uh there's one more person I'm not speaking on that's a 147 guy, but I'm pretty sure it's Barboza or somebody. And if it's Barboza, nah. Like Teo Fimo, like I don't think he gets past Tio Fimo. I don't think he gets past a lot of world talent guys that are young. I just don't see it. Connor Ban gets to win a UD, but it's expected. The second every fight he had, Chris E Brink Jr., he was supposed to win that fight, the first one. That's why the second one was like, oh, finally he got it together. Listen, man, and that weight cut was crazy, insane, unhealthy, dangerous. He was in a hospital afterwards. Nobody cared. Talk about Chris Ebrink Jr. Right? And this is Connor Ben. This is his rep. This is what he does now. He targets aging fighters and then talk shit about people in their prime. I don't see it happening for him. I see him standing in the UK picking fights that make sense and make money. Shout out to Connor Ben's team and management. But Connor Ben, you have to go in that boxing lab and you got to change some things because you shouldn't look like that with Regis. That is not how a world-level welterweight or middleweight, whatever weight class you want to find yourself in. In the weight class, and the weight cut look like it affected him as well. Don't want to talk about that. A lot of pop was off of those shots. A lot of energy we thought we were gonna see we didn't get. I find Connor Ben to be a cheese champion. That means he's full of holes. Now, Tyson Fury is back. The Gypsy King is back. The main card, the main event, Tyson Fury, he wins a clear UD. I mean, the only danger I saw in this fight, and this is because I know boxing, I was like, the dude got four or five rounds in the beginning to do something. If you don't, you're gonna start getting outworked, outpunched, and outmaneuvered. Usick is the only guy that's being Tyson Fury. Anthony Joshua starts too slow, throws two little punches in it. At the end of the day, Fury is a much better boxer. Pure boxer. The only thing that Joshua has over Fury is I would say power. And I I mean we so like the last the last test we had was him against Jake Paul. And that's not really a test. He wasn't really having to get through anything or really, you know, dodge too much besides a big right hand. I think he needs to fight Wilder and see if he can get past that man. Because there's a lot of shit being talked, like, oh, Wilder's over the hill. Wilder's shot to pieces. Wilder just got a W in the UK. So what are we talking about? Fury is calling out Anthony Joshua. I see Fury winning that fight. I see Joshua trying to take a warm-up fight beforehand and try to make as much money as possible. Joshua is a guy that's not going to take a risk without getting as much as he can. You know, he's been doing a lot of gimme fights where the Jake Paul situation was a gimme. The Daniel Du Bois loss was not a gimme. So I wonder what's going to happen when he has to deal with that opposing force in Deontay Wilder and him getting past that litmus test and then fighting Fury. I think that's what should happen. I think Fury still wins. I think the only thing that gets in the way of Tyson Fury is Tyson Fury. And if he's on point, he can beat anybody. If he fights Usyk again, he has to. It's not going to happen, though. Like Usik's jab, his jab defense, his movement, his body work. They're both getting older, so that can all change. It can all change in one fight. So that's a big thing, too. You know, Fury can't get in that ring and just be old. Anthony Joshua is pretty, like I would say, body-wise, like prime-wise. I think he's still a lot more athletic and dangerous than Tyson Fury in certain positions. So this is going to be a great card. This was a great boxing card. Shout out to the UK. Shout out to Tyson Fury. Shout out to Connor Ben even. It's this. I know boxing in the business of it. These boxing promotions are going to start doing weird little shit like this, having weird little fighters like this, and situations where Regis Pedragus retired after that fight. Shot to pieces. So I I I I can't really big up that win from Connor Ben. We shall see him again. This is the fight of episode 86. It's Lane LA network.
