Thanks for tapping in to The Life N Times Network !
The Fight #92 LNT breaks down Netflix’s first swing at MMA, and the card came built for chaos, finishes, and instant reactions. We talk fast stoppages, aggressive matchmaking, and whether this kind of entertainment-first fight night is bad for the sport or exactly what streaming fans want.
Francis Ngannou reminds everyone why heavyweight MMA is terrifying. One clean shot can end the whole plan, and his return puts the Jon Jones question right back on the table.
Mike Perry vs. Nate Diaz brings the damage conversation, scar tissue, early cuts, and how long a fighter can keep walking through fire. Then Ronda Rousey closes the night in vintage fashion with a blink-and-it’s-over armbar that shows what happens when a specialist stays in her lane.
Welcome And Card Setup
SPEAKER_00It's Lane LA. The fight, episode 92, MMA.
Dos Santos Ends It Fast
SPEAKER_00Listen, Netflix is back again with his first MMA card with Ronda Rosie versus Gina Carano. We start the card off of Rubel's versus Junior Dos Santos, round one in Done. KO. Punches and Bunches. The best striker in MMA when we see strikers in MMA. He was sparring with Pereira for a reason. He's incredibly sharp, incredibly accurate, and he's a heavyweight punching with heavyweight punches. Power. It's just, it's too much in whatever we can say about this card.
Lopsided Matchmaking And Why
SPEAKER_00We can't say it wasn't entertaining. Now, was the matchmaking crazy? Was it lopsided? Was it obvious? A little bit if you know about fighting, a lot of bit if you know about fighting. And truly, if you cared, not even cared, but understand the business of things, why it happened this
Netflix Enters The Sports Arms Race
SPEAKER_00way. We had Jake Paul giving us complete, coherent sentences and being a businessman throughout the production. This is a large play. Netflix is a large player. They want to get into sports
Quick TKO And Why We Watch
SPEAKER_00content. It is what they are investing in. Everybody's investing in entertainment. Boxing is on Dayson. Boxing is on Paramount Plus. Boxing is on Amazon. Boxing is everywhere. It's also on Netflix. And it's also just like the UFC now, where it's on every publication. This is his first card. Shout out to MVP. This was an entertaining card. The entire point of fighting and all this stuff is to entertain. So on that point, they really mark. They really hit their mark. We get into the second fight. Parnise gets to win in round one against Ken of Cross. Again, this punches and bunches, vicious ground and pound. This UFC card, there's a UFC card that went on tonight. I didn't watch it. I watched this card. It's because the matchmaking had explosive results. I'm not trying to watch people wrestle around for three or five rounds when they're trying to be super technical and rise up in the ranks. I understand, but I'm not interested. I'm a consumer, so I get that choice. And MVP delivered as far as the action in the entertainment tonight. Shout out to Parnice. He gets to round one TKO. One and done.
Ngannou’s Power And The Jones Dream
SPEAKER_00We move on to Francis and Ganu. We all wanted to know what he would do on his way back. And no one can stand in front of that man. And if you can't take him down, you're in for a very long night. And he knows how to take other people down there, too, and defend himself from takedowns. As soon as he started touching that guy, Felipe, it was a wrap. He couldn't handle the power, he couldn't handle the skills. He was throwing kicks. He was making a cage feel very small. He knocked him out in round one. Shout out to Donald. Immediately proving why he is who he is. Marketable, heavyweight, marketable champion, one of the top guys in the UC, one of the top guys in the PFL. He hasn't lost too much. Even when he initially got into boxing, people say he won against Fury and he dropped him. So Gonzalo's a consistent winner. I hope him and John Jones get it together where Netflix can give the UFC some step-aside money and they can just get this deal done as far as this deal between Francis and John Jones. It's the biggest fight we can see and make. And these guys are not getting any younger. I really think they should do it before the end of their careers, both of them. And if the other John Jones beats Francis, nobody really cares. They never fought Tom. I still think Francis is better than Tom. I'm sorry. That's me. You tell me something different. If you think Francis and Tom is a good matchup, let's see, Tom versus Francis
Perry Stops Diaz And Jake Paul Talk
SPEAKER_00then. Mike Perry versus Nate Diaz. Listen, we all do Nate Diaz is I don't want to be downtrodden or disrespectful, but Nate Diaz has to stop fighting. The scar tissue is so layered on his face that as soon as he gets punched, it's opening up. And it's gonna almost all of his recent fights, everything since Mosfidal, he's been losing because of the scar tissue on his face. He can't get into the fight and take you into deep waters, which is his style because he keeps getting cuts early in the fight. He can't stand up to the damage. His punch resistance looked very low. And Mike Perry is vicious. He's one of the most dangerous guys, one of the most barn burdened guys who can take a hit and give a hit and make you feel it. He was on him from the bell, and he got it done in round two by TKL corner stoppage. Shout out to Mike Perry, the king of violence. Now, maybe Jake Paul might get it on in the MMA arena. And Jake Paul has wrestling experience and boxing experience, and Mike Perry's older, but Mike Perry is sharp and it's not just boxing. He'll have all his tools. Maybe that's the next fight.
Rousey Snaps On A Vintage Armbar
SPEAKER_00Listen, Rhonda versie, Rhonda Rosie versus Gina Corano, this is vintage Rhon Rosie. Round one and done. Under 17 seconds, armbar. You have to stay in your game. I think if Rhonda Rosie never got caught up in the hype of everything else, like her striking and everything else, if she hyper focused on what she was hyperly, hyper focusly gifted at, he could beat any woman in the sport of MMA. Shout out to Rhonda Rosie. Gets the round one finish. And the pockets are looking lovely with all these round ones. I was betting on the round ones all night.
