Jahi Tucker Grinds Out The Win

Getting into the main card. Let's talk about it. Jahay Tucker defeats Yuri. Majority of decision. Really, it was a UD. Tucker outworked him, outfought him, out everything him in every capacity. Jahay Tucker is a blue-collar fighter. He has the ability, the will, and the skill to do exactly what he did. I'm extremely proud of him. Shout out to him in that performance. People did not think he could get there. People did not think he would rise to that occasion. He's a top rank fighter. So shout out to Top Rank. Top Rank had an excellent card this weekend. Top rank is one of the best farts in this boxing game. I feel like in this boxing game, all the promoters need to come over to Dayson and stop the bullshit. PVC come over to Dayson. Everybody come over. Golden Boys over there. Top rank's over there. And the UK boys are over there. So I really think the only people are holding out is PVC and a couple other promotions. Ben Whittaker’s Speed Ends It Fast

on. Now, Ben Whitaker, this is his first time in the States. He is fighting Richard Rivera. He KO'd them in round two. I knew it was going to be in the first two rounds. Ben Whitaker is extremely sharp. And if you're flat footed and you don't have a jab and you can't cut off the ring, it's only a matter of time. He's too talented. He needs to take another step-up fight. I know they've been trying to, I wouldn't say protect, but they were trying to mature this fighter through his fights. So it's good to see Ben Winnaker get the job done in two rounds. Exciting. This guy's so fast. In and out is so fast. His jab is crazy. His speed, athleticism, and his execution and decision making and punch selection is world here. It really only the only thing stopping him now is composure and experience. So that's the only thing in his way. There's nothing else in his way. Ben Whitaker is an incredible fighter and will be a great champion. It really depends on where he wants what he wants to do and what he's trying to accomplish in this boxing game.

Emiliano Vargas And The Skill Gap

We move on to Amelio Vargas versus Bryce Mills. They stopped the fight exactly when I thought they should. Bryce Mills was already taking a lot of damage. He already got dropped. And this is a thing, guys. With these blue chip fighters, like a Vargas, like a Ben Whitaker, even a Tucker, if you don't have a jab to keep them off or to make them respect you, or even the power to make them respect you, it doesn't matter what you're doing in there. It's only a matter of time. And every time Bryce Mills came in to engage and to throw or start his offense, he had to take three, four, five, seven, eight bad shots before he even got his shot off. It's crazy to see the skill gap even at that level. Vargas is only 22 years young. He's only going to get better. He's only going to grow as a fighter. He comes from a background in a credible pedigree of boxing. So I'm very excited for his career and his future. He gets this round four stoppage. Now, I did not bet on Vargas because I did not know enough about him. I don't bet on young champions until I watched him at least three to five times in the fire and how they deal with the fire. And I still have yet to see Vargas in the fire, and that's a good and a bad thing. We'll talk about that as we go around. But we did bet on Ben Whitaker. Ben Whitaker is an early round finish guy. If you're not betting early round finishes for an early round fighter, I don't know what you're doing. We bet every possibility. We bet low on stakes that can happen, but probably won't. But just in case Lamont Peterson, Lamont is about to fight Zapeta and both of those guys come in and they have ugly fights. It's very hard to determine who won the fight coming from one of their fights. So when we're going to bet on this, and we're going to bet on this next, is majority decision, split decision. I think Zipetta can knock him out because I saw Isaac Cruz drop him as far as Lamont.

Boots vs Zayas Round By Round

And right here we get into the main card, the main event. Jeron Innis Boots versus Xander Zayez. I had it for round one through six, but I also put it for seven through twelve. They should have stopped the fight in the sixth round. Let's get into the fight itself. Xander Zayez is a two-time belt holder. He is a champion. He is one of the top guys and one of the youngest guys and one of the only guys to accept the challenge for Boots. First of all, shout out to Boots for jumping up and wait and becoming a champion again. He did defeat Xander Zayez in round seven, TKO. The fight for me should have ended in round six for my pockets. I would have loved it because it should have ended in round six. Round seven, he took a lot of punches. He did not need to take. Boxing is still the most dangerous sport out. I don't know why he's taking that much damage. I know he's 23, but Xander took a lot of damage last night. Now let's get into the fight itself. Round one, Boots drops him. He couldn't miss the jab. And he, as soon as he dropped him, he stopped using his jab. And I think that's something everybody in boxing needs to pay attention to. If you're going to fight Boots or if you're betting on Boots, after Boots hurts his opponent, he's not setting up his offense, and that's his biggest problem. And he's taking risks that he don't need to. He starts becoming a brawler. So, like, you know how there's a boxer puncher, right? There's brawlers, there's sluggers, there's dirty guys. Boots leaves with boxing until he gets you hurt, and then he becomes a brawler puncher. And he in a slugger and an inside fighter. His ranges were crazy. He made it bad everywhere. Vander went inside, got hurt. He got hurt outside. He got hurt trying to show heart. He got hurt trying to box. He got hurt everywhere in every scenario. Vander was completely overwhelmed besides the round three when he hurt Boots. But here's the thing everybody's talking about Boots getting hurt in the third. Listen, guys, he didn't get dropped. He got hurt, everybody gets hurt. This is boxing. To take and knock someone out, you have to take the risk. You are right there because those same chances Zayas gets on Boots, Boots is getting on Zay. And we saw the result. If you want to exchange in the 50-50 with Boots, you're going to get hurt. There's nobody doing that on Earth. Virgil Ortiz is like, oh, I'll stop him. I'll drop him. I'm like, I don't think so. I don't think so at all. I think if Boots stay behind his jab, he don't even have to be there. He chooses this. He chooses to go to war with Xander. He didn't have to. We saw real one. He couldn't stay behind his jab and hurt that man from the outside and make him look foolish. And I think that's when his style is going to evolve, especially if he gets into the right fights where he's pushed, especially if he goes up and wait. So I think his style has to change when he goes up and wait because when he's going back and forth, when he gets into this clinch or this inside or even in this dirty boxing range, he is getting clipped. And that's the biggest thing I took away from it.
