UFC Fight Night China gave me plenty to talk about for Episode 106. The finishes came fast, the mistakes were obvious, and some fighters paid hard for habits that were already on tape.
I break down Bilal Hassan’s knockout, Lou’s first round KO, Kai’s second round TKO, and Denise Gomez shutting things down early.
I also get into the grappling debate. Wrestling and jiu jitsu belong in MMA, but holding position with no damage or real offense is getting harder to defend.
Then I get to Song Yadong vs Umar and why repeated takedown attempts without proper setups can get you punished against elite strikers.
I also touch on the betting side and why pick em fights are where smart risk management matters most.
The Fight LNT #106 is all about finishes, fight IQ, bad habits, and what this card told me about where MMA is heading.
the fight episode 106. It's late, PA. UFC Fight Night in China, guys. I stayed up for you so you don't have to stay up. I watched every single fight, the entire event, top to bottom. What a card! What an event! What a moment. The UFC has expanded its network, its reach. It is truly global. The MMA scene has blown up. I usually get up around this time anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed the card. I can't believe what I saw today. The fight, episode 106, and then it's lame PA. Let's start
the main card. Bilal Hassan knocks out Nielsen, second round KO. Listen, the guy was flashy. The guy was a showman. Came in listening to Michael Jackson. Came in calling out the his opponent. The guy that just won by submission the last fight. He called out that guy right after knocking out his guy. This is an amazing card. The entertainment factor was off the charts. The risk factor was off the charts. A lot of action. And this is what we want in our main cards. The fight. Now moving on to Lee, Lou versus Levi. We get a first round KO from Lou. Pure violence, pure destruction, pure force meets face. Listen, the fight. This card was amazing. Shout out to Lou for the first round KO. That's the second fight.
The only fight to go to decision was a rematch that ended in a no contest. The last time the fighters were out. Alex Perez, you do not win for just holding someone and doing no damage. No damage means your wrestling control does not matter. I'm sorry, guys. If you want to watch wrestling, we'll go to RAF. If you want to watch Jiu Jitsu, we'll watch UFC BGJ. If you want to watch karate, we're watching karate combat. Like if we want to watch this shit, we will watch it at that separate sport. MMA is a mix of arts. We need to mix it up. Stop trying to be safe. That's how you lose fights. Alex Perez was trying to be safe. He lost a fight. He couldn't strike with his opponent. Shout out his opponent for winning the UD. Crazy that we have to let people know that this lay and prey is not, you're not getting away with it, guys. It's not gonna go down anymore. You can't just lay and pray. You can't just hope that if I go for legs and keep this guy down, it's nothing I can do with him. Are over. Those days are over, guys. I'm sorry.
Now, going into Kayakor, Asakor, getting a second round TKO. Listen, if you want to go strike for strike, if you want to go blow for blow, if you don't want to slow it down and take this guy to the ground, you're not gonna beat him. He's one of the most vicious strikers in the division. I'm glad he's doing what he's doing. Flashy KO, violent KO. Shout out to Kai for the second round TKO. They had to stop it. A lot of punches and bunches. Man, talk about violence. And we haven't even gotten to the main event and co-main event. And they both were violent. See, this is what we want for my main events. This is what we want for the fight. This is what we tune into. This is what we care about. This is why people tune into the UFC. We
get into the co-main. We got Denise Gomez knocking out Jan. First round KO. TKO. She knocked her down, hit her again as she was coming up, and it was all she wrote. She could not get back up. TKO. Shout out to Denise. That was vicious. Vicious. Vicious striking. And I'm glad that we got to see at the highest level that people are looking for the finish. Because a lot of people are not. They're just trying to coast these five rounds, make it through, earn their next contract, or make it look favorable. These guys in this main event, the co and main event, showed us exactly what the EOC is hitting for. And you cannot stay safe in a style that you do not adapt. And that's something we're about to go into really a lot.
As far as this Songy Dong versus Umar. Songyan Dong does it. Okay, he knocks out Umar in round two. Listen, guys, you cannot keep doing the same shit in UFC over and over and over and over and over again. People are starting to pay attention on how you guys enter on takedowns. People are drilling. People have tape on you guys. You know, but not for nothing. Islam and Ian Gary showed that the U of C MMA level in wrestling is growing and maturing and adapting to that Dagestani style. And Sonny Dong has put an exclamation mark on that example by knocking out Umar in round two. Coming down for a takedown, got an uppercut, took him and finished it from there. You cannot just hope that holding down your opponent is going to win you this fight. You're going to have to develop your striking to a certain level. Now, Umar is the exception. He just got caught. It can happen to anybody. But I think the biggest hole was the entries and the level of confidence that camp. And they hold and pressure their fighters into grappling. If he was a little bit more away, setting up his distance and making Songgy Don respect his hand and his power because Sonya Don is very powerful. Very powerful. You will knock anybody out if you give them the opportunity to. So I wasn't surprised by the knockout. I was surprised by the execution. Thought he's a little too young and green for that. But it's going to have to be a striker to keep this guy away from you. That's why Shugarshan Amali beat him. And that's why it's going to be an issue for anybody who isn't a striker to beat him. You need something to keep him or keep his hands off you. If you're only trying to grab him, he knows you don't want to get hit. So he knows eventually he's going to hit you. The fight, episode 106. Shout
out, Song Yadong. You cashed me out. We bet on this fight. We always bet both sides on big fights. This is UFC. This is pick em fights. This is the crime of the crime. Okay, guys. When you want to bet, bet both sides. I bet light on Umar and only for the sub because that's the highest profit margin. Tonya Don KO was an outlier. I put five bucks on his cash the fuck out. It's the fight. Episode 106. It's lame PS.
