Adult life can feel like you got promoted into harder missions with no squad, so we start there: taxes, schedules, Outlook, and the brutal truth that co-op hangs now need appointments. From that very real vibe, we swing back into what keeps us sane, anime culture, new releases, and the shows that still make you feel like a kid when a theme song hits.
We get into Cyberpunk season 2 hype and why that world is built to hurt, then jump to Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War with the moments fans have been waiting on, like Kenpachi’s Bankai and Adult Toshiro finally appearing. From there, we talk One Piece as the definition of generational storytelling, how it outlasts entire eras of shonen anime, and why gaps in its release schedule can create a real culture shift for longtime fans.
Then we put live action anime adaptations on the stand. Naruto live action brings up the big question: can you translate chakra, summons, and iconic character designs without turning it into another Dragon Ball Evolution situation? We also hit Netflix anime, isekai overload, and the shows that lost momentum as the market got flooded. Finally, we do our uncomfortable conversations list: Demon Slayer’s story versus its animation, My Hero Academia’s main character problem, and other series that fell off over time, before ending on Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon nostalgia
Adulting Feels Like A Rank Missions
SPEAKER_01It's Lady PA Life of Times Anime Episode 15.
SPEAKER_00What's up, Carlos? What's up, man? Bro, we here, man. You know what I mean? The adult life, paying taxes, abiding the law. Bro, I'm just gets real, man. It's real, bro. I'm a real taxpayer, bro. It's like it's not. If there's an adult version of the tuning exams, you know what I mean? This would be like the Joning exams, bro.
SPEAKER_01This is the Joni exams, bro. We are no longer tuning. Yeah, we're out here doing real missions for the for the village. All right. It's this is what the whole Kage sent us to do, bro.
SPEAKER_00It's like the bro, honestly, not even Joni. This is like Anbu exams, where it's like missions are A-rank and above, bro. People is dying. Yeah, bro. Like you're constantly on A-rank or S rank missions, bro. And it's like sometimes you gotta rock out those dope. Like you got no platoon with you.
SPEAKER_01Like, bro, I was just telling my other friend, a good friend of mine that I've known since our Penn State days. I said, you know, life used to be so co-op. Now everybody's on campaign, bro. Everybody, I can't play co-op. I can't play co-op all throughout the week. I only got a couple of days to go co-op, and that's it.
SPEAKER_00Like it's crazy, bro. You have to make like appointments in advance for the co-op for the co-op side quests. Co-op is side quests nowadays. Yeah, they really are side quests.
SPEAKER_01Co-op used to be the main story, bro. Used to play gaming.
SPEAKER_00You used to wake up in a co-op.
SPEAKER_01Wake up looking for wait looking for lobby, looking for the party, bro. Like, who's here? Like, this shit's crazy, man. I remember back in the day when the group chats was like everything, and now my fucking bank account is everything.
SPEAKER_00Like, that's just crazy, bro. You know it's real, you know, you started really adulting when it's like checking your emails, whether it be like outlook email, is like your social media kind of you know, cleanse, not cleanse, but like part of your daily. Like you check your email, you're like, all right, boom, and then you go about your day.
SPEAKER_01I got like serious emails I gotta send out. I'm waiting on it, like like it's crazy, bro. I'm opening outlook, I'm like, like crazy. But
Cyberpunk Season Two And Trauma Warnings
SPEAKER_01um what's wild is that we got cyberpunk 2 coming out. I believe it's in October or September in the fall. I'm super excited for it. They just put out a trailer for it, it was crazy. Expect some trauma if you're not used to the series or used to the world of cyberpunk, it's gonna be a lot of trauma. I think I'm not gonna get too attached, but man, it looks good, bro. Cyberpunk, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00You played the game, right? Yeah, yeah. I played, I actually played it kind of in like the latter stages of COVID, when it was kind of when people kind of were all when the hype died down, but they really cleaned up the game and all the bugs and stuff like that. And it's it's it's a solid game, man. I really feel like, especially with it kind of coinciding with with the Netflix like anime, I feel like it was kind of like euphoria for for anime lovers.
SPEAKER_01You're yo, you're right. It really is like euphoria. Yo, Spaceboy Cowboy Bebop is like that too. It's like the euphoria anime, bro. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, bro, that shit was fire. That that anime is pretty good. I love Cyberpunk. I'm excited for season two, and the peak doesn't end there. We got
Bleach Bankai And Peak Cool Factor
SPEAKER_01bleach, we got Kimpachi revealing his bonkai. I mean, bro, how goaded do you have to be? How many sagas was he catching fades without even using his ult?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, with oh, ult, bro, no fatality, and just that term bonkai is so iconic because I remember like being kid in the first scene, Ichigo go like bon, dude. That like it sends chills down my spine, bro. Like those are one of those iconic anime terms that it's just like, okay, like, yeah, you you genuinely just had to be there.
SPEAKER_01Now, Bon Kai was like something different, especially when it changed his fit, his demeanor. I remember when he had the mask and shit. Man, that was too much, bro. Like, like Bleach in itself as an anime is probably still the coolest. Like, it just looks cool. You know what I'm saying? Like, like, this is cool. Like, Goku, I never thought he was cool. I thought he was this, you know, a savage. Like, I don't think Luke is cool. I think Ichigo is cool. Like, yeah, because it's like you have the D. You know what I'm saying? Giant sword, pull up, like, hits going down. Kapachi unveils his bonkai. We're still in a thousand, you know, thousand war, thousand-year blood war arc in bleach. So it's exciting, you know. Watch and easy go. Like, I've seen the I've read the manga, so I know what happens at the end, but like, man, to see it animated is still crazy. To see Kampachi's Bankai is still crazy, man. I man, I wouldn't mind another series from him if he figure out another way to keep it going. We'll see.
One Piece As A Generational Titan
SPEAKER_01Speaking of people keeping it going, we got one piece. They got a couple more episodes for the year, then it's out until 2027. One piece is gonna be going. I I don't know like when it's gonna ever end. We might be able to do that.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how you feel about it either. Yeah, like and the crazy thing is I keep saying this about One Piece that it's like, mind you, y'all, I I'm not afraid of my age, is one thing. I'm 30. One piece came out when on came out on Tunami debuted on on Toonami. I was in third grade, bro. Third grade. This is this is now 21 two days later and some change, and One Piece is still going, bro. And the fact that there's a there's only a couple episodes left of 2026, and there's about to be a gap, that's like a power uh for to put it in context for people that may not be as hardcore in the anime. One piece has literally transcended generations of different animes. Like as the big three has continued to shift, whether it be Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bleach, or Yuhaka Show, One Piece has been present in all those eras. And now going into 2027, there's going to be like a power vacuum of anime because One Piece won't be around, and that's huge for the culture because One Piece has been a staple in anime since I started watching anime, bro. Like that's crazy. One Piece has been around like 2,000 episodes later.
SPEAKER_01Damn near, bro. I think 1100 so far. We're gonna it's gonna get to 2000. Like, I see what you're saying, it's gonna get to 2000. They're gonna do a time skip. There's a lot of shit going on with like Chopper's fruit. I didn't even know like he's gonna be a big factor in this. We still got Usopp's run. Or let's hear it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, one of my hot takes is that, and and here's the thing: this is regardless, mind you, I I I love One Piece, but even bias aside, One Piece will go down as the greatest anime of all time. Reason being, this is the one anime that's like comic book-esque fleshed out, like that super fleshed out story, whether no matter how convoluted is, no matter how many retcons you find, or how many plot holes you find, it is the one comic book-like anime that's super fleshed out and just uh just has something for everybody, bro. Like, if you're just starting out, of course, it's incredibly overwhelming. But for the people that have stuck around, it's like, dude, like it's this is an amazing story. And look how far the animation and fight have come from the first chunk for the first like 200 episodes or so to what it is now.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? Yeah, top of the line creates culture and demand. One piece is generational, and it we don't know how many generations it will dominate.
SPEAKER_00Like, we don't know, and that's what I'm saying, and that's why that's why it goes down as one of the greatest. It is literally outlasted generations, bro.
SPEAKER_01It outlasted attack on Titans run. An attack on Titan itself is a generational A. That's what I'm saying. Like, it outlasted it. There's like, man, we love Attack on Titan, it's goaded. One piece is like, all right, dog, I'm around. That's cute. Yeah, I'm still here. I'm still here, fire force. I'm still here. What's up? Still here, you know. Like, what Soul Eater, I'm still here, Fomo Alchemist. Let's just get started. Like, like that's crazy, right? Like the peaks and volleys. I mean, even though you know, Dragon Ball Z DBZ, every time it came through, it's the big homie to everybody. Yeah, that it supersedes everybody, and he's around because he created everybody. But One Piece in itself, the story, you know, people are mad at certain plot holes and stuff like that. Anime in itself, all of them have plot holes. You can go through every single one and figure out something wrong with it. It you you might as well just hate life because it's not gonna get clean, it's not gonna be clean. Now it's not egregious, right? It's not like fucking uh we're it'll talk about it, right? With anime that got worse over time, but like one of them I'm gonna talk about later is fairy tale, bro. It's not on if it's not on fairy tale level, I don't really care, bro. I really don't care if it's not on fairy tale level. But
Naruto Projects And Monster Returns
SPEAKER_01let's get into this new Naruto Naruto project that's gonna be coming out in October. We don't know what they're doing, maybe they're milking the cow. Maybe they're which would you think?
SPEAKER_00So my hypothesis is again, so for anime for anyone that is a Naruto or Boruto fan, whether it be anime or manga, spoiler alert. I don't know. Well, they did the Naruto project, but I do think Boroto 2 Blue Vortex is on the way, and I think that's gonna be under the Naruto umbrella. I've been because of because of all these comic book projects and stuff that have been out lately, like you know, Spider-Man and and and and lanterns and stuff. I haven't I haven't been as deep in my anime bag. But hopefully, Borito 2 Blue Vortex time skip is on the way where Borito is a teenager and get some of this manga content animated, hopefully.
SPEAKER_01I'm cool with Baruto, bro. I I never I never tapped down, I never tapped him never tapped. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to my Naruto fans, man.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry. Uh yeah, one of those Naruto fans. I just don't even think he can, bro. He's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Oh man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man. I don't like what they did to my man.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, check back. Fuck it. But um, the creator of Monster is making a new manga. That is gonna be highly, highly anticipated. Monster is probably one of those crazy animes. You can only watch it once, right? Like it's one of it's like Death Note. Like, I watched the first season of Death Note, I don't watch the second one, but I watched the first season of Death Note and I watched the first season of Monster. These are completed animes to me where the plot holes are so small, you just have a great story, and I and I'm really anticipating what we get from that.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01That one I'm gonna have to add that to the list. I have you have you seen Monster? I haven't. I haven't, bro. Monster's fucked, bro. It's a psychological one, it's fucked up. Think about like that that black butler shit, but no weird shit. Yeah, yeah. Like just like really actually trying to get the soul and shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, like it's wild. Like, and think Frankenstein, too. You know how he created his own monster and all this other shit, and all the butterfly effects. That's what monsters are all about, bro. It's crazy. It's about like a bro, the dude's like a doctor, but he saved the wrong person. That's all I'm gonna say.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Send them more, cinema, cinema, now back to bleach. We finally got Adult Tashiro on screen. That that's feeding generations, bro. That's probably one of the cold, and I mean this literally, one of the coldest transformations in anime, bro. I he really put the ice users on his back with this one, bro. Because it, you know, that's like a big thing in all powers and all the shit, like far as anime and power systems. There's always an ice user, fire user, electricity, something. But this one, bro, crazy, man.
SPEAKER_00Like, and I always have a soft spot for transformations, especially in anime, like, and especially Bleach was one of the first ones that really made like with the whole Bon Kai situation that made that put transformations, I think, on the map before the whole before Super Saiyan really took over that whole transformation.
SPEAKER_01I still don't think I got a hot take. Bonkai is still harder than like as a transformation than like Super Saiyan because of what Dragon Ball Z did to it. They trivialized it. So now it's like they did, they trivialized it. Like, if it was still Frieza's art, I would be like, no, bro, no. I we got the whole canon. Super Saiyan don't mean anything anymore. Bonkai means something all the way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I hear that. I hear that. You know what I'm saying? Like with given what we've gotten from Dragon Ball, I don't think that's as hard of a take. Now, if we did if this was closer to the 2000s, yeah, it would have been that would have been that would have been like what what?
SPEAKER_01But like we got that context. People have been like, nah, because I that's one of the things that Bleach never did, it never diluted his power system. For sure. Like the way everything operated stayed the same, it just escalated through higher training, which is great. Yeah, but um back to adult Toshuri, Tashuri, uh, Toshurio, god damn. Fire, fire transformation. Like, I'm so it was so cool to see that live. It was so in him and Kapace, like, it's putt bleach up there, and that's another thing. Like, bleach, you know, it takes his hiatus, it's kind of like Kendrick. He take a hiatus, come back, kill the game, leave.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Yeah, seriously, because it's like, how long were we waiting for this thousand-year blood war arc? And a minute bleach bleach stayed relevant throughout that time of their absence, bro. You know how hard that is in anime, bro. Usually people forget about an anime after the one season they drop, and they're like, Oh, we'll be back in a year and a half. Bleach stayed relevant the entire time, even through COVID when it when when the demand really ramped up.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy, man. Bleach has staying power. Speaking of staying power, we're back to Naruto.
The Live Action Anime Problem
SPEAKER_01It is getting a live action movie. Now, this could be the greatest thing ever, or trash. Where do you think we're at with the live action anime adaptations?
SPEAKER_00You see, uh, it's like I'm on the opposite side of the coin where I'm not I'm not invested in all this live action stuff. I'm more so animate everything because I just generally think that when you animate things, and here's the thing, there are certain there are live action projects that I think are amazing. Like what immediately comes to mind, like Game of Thrones, for example, I think is very good, is it's very good. Like it has its issues, but overall, as it it's it's pretty good. But I I think Game of Thrones would be even better if you and if you made an anime. Because then the characters could be accurate too. Exactly. I think you can make it more gory, I think you can portray more emotion when you animate things, I think you can exaggerate things more. I think it adds another layer to the story. And some people, here's the thing no matter no matter how far anime has come, you'll always get you'll always get the haters that are just like, oh, this is cartoonish, it's it's childish, don't anime stuff. But as you can see, the demand for anime has gone up and up. Just the name drop a game series that's about to get an anime, Kingdom Hearts. Yo, Kingdom Hearts is about to get an anime that has a huge fan base that's also kind of niche. So that just goes to show, dude. Like, keep not, I don't I just here's the thing. There's certain stories, like I just think they're gonna struggle to portray certain things in Naruto if you live action it. Like, how are you gonna do a rochimaru?
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? There's a lot of shit. Like, how are you gonna do summons? How are you gonna do basic chakra? What is it gonna look like? Because we've seen some bad shit, bro. Remember that Dragon Ball Z live action movie, bro? Oh, Dragon Ball Evolution. Oh, that was that was garbage, garbage, bro.
SPEAKER_00Garbage, garbage, bro. Goku was in like high school going to like frat parties and stuff. Like, what are we doing?
SPEAKER_01They made him the most regular nigga I ever seen, bro. It's crazy, right? Yeah, that shit was crazy.
SPEAKER_00It's it's it's it's not needed. Like, live action aren't too needed. It's like, what is what is Rock Lee gonna look like? What's Neji gonna look like? How are you gonna make the dojo? Who's gonna play? You know what I mean? What's Kakashi gonna look like? Kakashi has one of the coolest hairstyles in all of anime.
SPEAKER_01So they casted Kakashi. They casted Kakashi is the dude from beef. Not familiar with dude. Yeah, nobody's familiar with his game, bro. They take your risks already. That's what I'm saying. Like, we don't even know who he is. Like, this is crazy. But for me, I think the Naruto live action adaptation is gonna fail. I don't think it's gonna get a bunch of money, and just like even the one piece live action show that people are saying is okay. I'm like, that shit's not even tolerable, bro. That shit is like that shit is for somebody who can't even handle anime, right? That's for people who can't handle anime, you can't handle a subtitle. I think the live actions are for the fucking casuals of anime, bro. Hot tape. Live actions for fucking casuals, bro. They're casuals. You can't read a manga, you can't watch an anime, you need live action, you're fucking casual, man. I don't I don't want to hear about it. Fucking uh yeah, I just think they're wasting a lot of money, I think they're wasting a lot of time too. Like, did you see that you hakashu live action?
SPEAKER_00I saw I've seen clips of it, dude, and it's like I'm not moved, dude. Especially for me, for me, you hakasho is is a part of my personality because he is one of my original favorite characters, dude. He is one of the original that that emo, super powerful, anti-social archetype type character. There goes he, Fushiguro from Juju from Jujutsu Kaisen, Sasuke from Naruto. That archetype of character, he was the first one, bro. Like, he was so cold, bro. And especially he had the Jagan third eye behind the headband, bro. Like, oh he was so cold, bro. Oh, and uh another one, Sashomaru from Inu Yasha, man. Come on, yo that archetype of character, that archetype of character really hits home for me, and when I see clips of that live action Yuaka show, bro, it just doesn't do it justice because Yusuke Urameshi, that green jumpsuit, bro, is is important to the culture, bro. That was one of the original drippy outfits from anime, bro.
SPEAKER_01Bro, then like the fight scenes, how they did the demons. I try to watch the shit when it came out, bro. I try to watch the shit, bro. Because sometimes they try to give it a chance. I try to give it a chance. I'm like, maybe it hit, maybe it don't. Like, I tried one piece, it hit, maybe it don't. The only live action thing I like is from the comics. I think the comics is the most translatable material when it comes to live action. But yeah, you can't do that to you Yaku Shoe because his his dialogue matters so much. Because if I don't care about the dialogue, and they're putting all the budget in the special effects and the fighting, so like they're not putting anything into the actors, so the acting's it's subpar at best. It's an action show, and they're skipping the story itself. I think they should scrap live action anime attempts. Now, yeah, for real.
Netflix Hits And Isekai Overload
SPEAKER_01Record of Ragnarot is coming out season three, comes out in March. It's one of those battle animes, it's kind of like Baki, right? Where it's just two opposing forces and a lot of fucking you know, lore in between. I I like it because you know, some things and certain concepts they have mortals going against gods. So that's pretty cool. I don't know if you're a little bit more than a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, like a Mortal Kombat type situation. I watched the first season. And again, like for me, it's one of those. I I think it's it's one of those that I recommend to people because I think it's easy to digest. I mean easy to get into. It's not too long. You know what I mean? Not too many layers designed. You know what I mean? But very but still really good anime. I think it's also, don't they have it? Doesn't Netflix hold it? Yeah, Netflix got it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's another Netflix anime, bro. Netflix has a big anime bag. I don't know if people seen it, but Arcane on uh Netflix is fantastic. Fire probably the one of the best animes I've seen in a year. It is only like two seasons. I like animes that's like that. Just get in and out. Don't go over. Because this is another question I have for you. Do you think Shield Hero lost its audience because of the influx of easekais and RPG stories flooding in? We're in the season four, and it's like there's like very 40 to 50 shows that came out in between Shield Hero. And I don't hear any buzz about it. I'm not myself too excited to watch it. It also got stepped on the last season, kind of got weird. Didn't know what they were doing, kind of directionalist. The first two seasons were great. But that third season, that third season was very weak. Very weak. Yeah, they lost it. Never get into the fourth season. You know what I'm saying? And now I got how many other choices do I have, right? Like many other.
SPEAKER_00It's not moving. And the thing is, where the what's sad about it is, especially for Shield Hero, is that we're in an isekai right now. I would say isekai, isekai's are are moving above shonen's, at least in terms of performance and hype right now. Popularity. Yeah, popularity for sure. Because you have a Lord of Mysteries. Lord of Mysteries had the streets going crazy. And another Isekai, mind you, uh Jack of all trades, you got Jack of All Trades, solo leveling, bro. Solo leveling. Well no. That's what I'm saying. Solo leveling is the is the new is the hottest flavor right now. So again, where Rise of the Shield hero in its first two seasons was peak, it's kind of in that Sword Art Online treatment where it's like, yo, you gave us two seasons peak and you kind of fell off with us. And you remember that Sword Art Online hype bro was the best anime hype them first seasons, bro?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, when that shit first came out, bro. Bro, when that shit first came out, when bro said, bro, I'm a beater. Like yeah, yeah, he had everybody hated, bro.
SPEAKER_00That was crazy. Kirito, bro, Kirito pulled up all black fit. Everyone was working in in uh in two three-man squads. Kiri Toe was like, I'm cool, bro. I'm gonna do this dolo. I'm cool off y'all.
SPEAKER_01I don't need anybody, man. I I got it, man.
SPEAKER_00And here's the thing, he'd pull up to them fights, he'd be like, Y'all can't beat me. Like, I'll be honest, like, I've been grinding so much, y'all can't beat me.
SPEAKER_01I'm beyond until we figure out, you know, when he caught that fade with the creator of the game. Crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, facts. Yeah, he yeah, he caught that smoke.
SPEAKER_01Now,
When Popular Anime Starts Falling Off
SPEAKER_01what anime got worse over the years, right? Like, it kept going, but it got worse. We can say sore art online confidently, we can say fairy tale. That's mine's that's my most egregious. Like that one of fairy tale is so egregious, like every season got worse as far as the plot, you know, they just kept making money, bro. And it's kept making money, uncomfortable conversations.
SPEAKER_00You know what mine is.
SPEAKER_01What is it?
SPEAKER_00Demon Demon Slayer.
SPEAKER_01Oh my so the animation saves it, bro.
SPEAKER_00The animation this is why that's it, this is why people aren't willing to have this conversation. Yeah, because Demon Slayer, it looks cute, it's clean, but let's be honest, people. The story is mid. Yeah, the story's bad. The story's bad.
SPEAKER_01I agree with you, bro. I've read the manga. I've read the manga.
SPEAKER_00And I'm not moved. Like, bro, bro. Bro, Inu Yasha is the original Demon Slayer, and Inu Yasha is better than Demon Slayer, bro. I will argue with your mother with your grandmother. Bro, Inu Yasha is is hands down better than anything.
SPEAKER_01What Inu Nasha episode is better than a fucking Demon Slayer season?
SPEAKER_00Come on, bro.
SPEAKER_01Like, like they had one episode, like, come on. And I agree with that. I agree with that for sure. Demon Slayer just looks good. It just looks good.
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm saying. And another one, I'll be honest. Here's the thing, and it hurts a little bit to say it, my hero academia, bro.
SPEAKER_01Nah, man. I don't think so. I thought my hero kept it. I thought it kept it going. I don't like aspects.
SPEAKER_00All right, you tell me. I will explain. So as the and here's the thing, disclaimer, I like my academia. There's a lot I do like about it. I just think towards the end, when that entire war was happening between when it shifted, but when it shifted between heroes versus the league of villains, and it shifted between one for all, the generations of one for all versus all for one, they really started pushing a lot of characters in our face. And then I tease this whole Garden of Eden complex when it came to these when it came to the genetics of where quirks came from and how through the generations quirk quirks got stronger because they started all these quirks originated from it it was kind of like the Kagya thing, where it was like all these quirks originated from one for all and all for one, and they kind of got stronger over time because humans started changing and and environment started changing and people's quirks and strength started changing and all these different and all these different cells and all this type of stuff. And I feel like it just one uh my hero academia lost what made them great, where it was like, okay, uh the superhero high school, we're trying to be good people, we have different factions of heroes, we have these really hacked quirks that can that can help society, uh, whether it be like surveillance, it was all street level. It was like street, they were really good at being street level issues, and then the issue became like this generational fight between two forces of good and evil, and that's where I feel like they kind lost a little bit. I don't think I don't think it necessarily got like it got worse, but I think it lost they they could they lost their own recipe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so there's a big thing they should have done all might should have died. I believe all might should have died, he should have become a vestige and became the last quirk for Iziko. There should have been no exchanging of the quirks in him, he should have been the solid hero, like all the way. Deku losing like his character didn't mature through his journey because he stayed Deku and he he never like Yusuke would never do that. How about that? Like Yusuke from season one to season two, it it would it would never happen, he would change throughout the seasons. Deku stayed a nerd all the way through, which is cute and endearing, but if his character doesn't change over what seven seasons, yeah, bro. Yeah, I see what you're saying, and that as respect, and I think he was more worried about telling the story of one for all than the story of Iziku, and I think that's where the story fell apart.
SPEAKER_00And that's I feel like that shift is kind of where they is where they lost it.
SPEAKER_01Because I like just reflecting on my hero, I'm never gonna be thinking like Midori's one of my top guys, because it never felt like him, he always felt like a vessel, yeah. And then he gets and he gets like put to the side, oh, he's number four hero, he's using gears, stuff like that. They should he should have been more brave. I still feel like uh the vigilante story is a lot, has a lot more death than my hero.
SPEAKER_00And because of the I agree with that, yeah, I agree with that because I also feel like Deck became a platform for other people's stories. Because again, remember it also started to shift with Todoroki's family, the whole Todoroki family issue, where it was like, okay, Dobby was my gosh, I forgot the the lost siblings. The lost son of uh yeah of Endeavour. Yeah, the lost son of an of Endeavor. Yeah, so it was like yo, that became that kind of overshadowed the story as well, because it's like, okay, now Endeavour, the now number one ranked hero, your kind of shunned son is now the Japan's top villain. Now what do you do about that? And you didn't, and you're telling me you didn't know, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Izuku is a weak main character, bro. Like the story of my hero academia is an ensemble story, and I think that's the problem with Deku as a main character. Like, I'm not comparable. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, Toya. There we go. Toya, yeah. Fucking hell. But yeah, I don't think Deku was ever like the guy, like he had moments, yeah, but like every time he came up, like everybody was able to talk him down, like every like his character never really changed. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00And all the animes you talk about, yeah. Goku has been the guy, Naruto's the guy, Luffy has been the guy, Ichigo has been the guy. All of these big animes, those characters were the face of anime, and they were the guy. Midori and personality to carry it.
SPEAKER_01The personality, like he should have been more than just like I feel like now that I'm really thinking about it. Like I never really thought about like this. But Midori feels like Midori from season one. He never really changed it. Got a little bit older, got some more powers, but that's about it. Still can't talk to girls. Like, he didn't like it. No real progression. Like, he kind of ended up with Eurobani. Like, he didn't really like like he didn't change. That's crazy. Yeah, that that's a big thing. I didn't even think about that. Yeah, it got worse for the main character. Like, the world isn't weak, but the main character is that's crazy. Yeah, yeah, that is that's really wild. I I was saying Death Note season two was so bad compared to season one, and then what else was there? There, there's a couple of anime where I just was like, How the fuck did we dip like so harshly? Like one punch man, one punch man, one punch man, one punch man was already on thin ice from the concept of the power set for the main character. I was looking at that show like this the whole time. Okay, he can't all he could be anybody with one punch.
SPEAKER_00Give me a plot. If you wanted to go from zero to a million views overnight, just drop a video of Goku versus One Punch Man or Superman versus One Punch Man. Right, that would have made your YouTube if you were just starting out in content creation, bro, you could have gone viral overnight with just those two videos.
SPEAKER_01And one punch man is still S. Like the concept, the character, I always thought it was S. I'm I'm glad people just figured it out, but I always thought it was S, bro. The animation saved that one fucker too. And as soon as the animation was not this conversation back in like 2016, 2016, they told me One Punch Man was God, crazy, yeah, crazy, bro. Told me he was goated, said he was over Goku, over. I I said, bro, this is a gag character. Like, this is not a real character, bro. We gotta have real characters. Yo, if you're gonna be a goaded anime, you gotta do goat things. This is like the Kevin Durant conversation right now. One punch manager, bro. Uncomfortable conversations. We might have to make this another subject in the pod, bro, because uncomfortable conversations. One punch man was ass. It always was ass. The animation carries it. And as soon as that animation dropped, it was over. Same thing for seven deadly sins, bro. That animation dropped. That animation dropped, bro. That hurts. Yo, that one hurt. That one hurt. I thought I could read, I thought I could read the manga to get out of the trash. It got worse.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, that shit got bad, bro. It got worse, bro. Ooh.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, so much promise, bro. So much promise, man. Mel and no, no, it was uh Eskenor, bro. Eskenor is crazy. And they just fucked up his shit, fucked up his power set, fucked up everything with that shit. And they were weird too. We gotta stop the weirdo animes, bro.
SPEAKER_00And they dropped so bro, they dropped like five plus movies for seven movies. They dropped it.
SPEAKER_01You see Demon Slayer, they go milk that shit till it's over, bro. Bro, get that shit out of my face, man. Oh, they just they go put they put more money into the animation now. That's the thing, bro. The story weak, the story gonna be weak.
SPEAKER_00Bro, Demon Slayer, don't piss me off, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Demon Slayer, bro. That's crazy. Any last thoughts, bro? Do you have anybody else on the list? Anybody you can think of that's an anime that fell off when it should have stayed on.
SPEAKER_00Oh man. Oh man. Trying to think.
SPEAKER_01Oh,
Yu-Gi-Oh And Pokemon Nostalgia Spiral
SPEAKER_01Yu-Gi-Oh! fell off. Yu-Gi-Oh! not not now not the original one, not GX. But and not 5DS, but all the other ones, they're trash compared to those guys, bro. They're circular. The original and crazy. Yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5DS is crazy. People was dying. If they lost the duel, they crashed.
SPEAKER_00Really crashed. That shit was crazy, bro.
SPEAKER_01Like, that was that was an insane concept. I don't know who who made Yu-Gi-Oh!
SPEAKER_00that serious. It was crazy. I also think it was like, I think you remember past episodes when we talk about like, yo, this demographic is no longer for us. I think after GX, that's when Yu-Gi-Oh! was like, yo, we don't, we don't care. Y'all, y'all nostalgia, nostalgia people. We're not we not targeting y'all no more.
SPEAKER_01I mean, the new Young Boy, I don't know what he's doing. I don't know what he's summoning, right? I know it's a new Young Bull, I know it's a new set of cards, but like I followed up to Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS, and then after that, yeah, yeah. I don't even know, bro.
SPEAKER_00It's like I fell off after Lucario.
SPEAKER_01Not for nothing, you're right. I only picked Pokemon back up far as like watching it when they had that Pokemon Origins anime. I was like, all right, I'll watch that.
SPEAKER_00That origin was fire, but you remember how big Lucario was for Pokemon Culture, a Pokemon that could really talk real. Using their aura, bro. Using their aura, literally. And broski broski had a resengon at his like special move. Resengon Kamehameha type special move, bro. That was I don't think we I don't I I feel like Lucario, we didn't talk about that enough because social media was like in its early ages, and going viral wasn't really a thing yet. But yo, Lucario, brosky, yeah.
SPEAKER_01When Lucario first dropped, it was out of it's out of pocket, bro. I remember when I first caught him horror sphered, bro. Crazy, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Dude was oh that's crazy, more OP than Mewtwo, and then we just got more OP than Mewtwo, and whoa.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Pokemon fell off too, bro. Pokemon fell off too. We ain't gonna talk about it, bro. The designs fell off. Let's have a let's have another uncomfortable conversation, bro. Yeah, before we go, let's have an uncomfortable conversation. Pokemon fell the fuck off, bro. I'm talking about the new forms, I'm talking about the games, I'm talking about every aspect of Pokemon is ass now. I remember Pokemon used to be everything, bro. Remember when the first generation of Pokemon came out? You say, What is this? What's that Pokemon? Like, let's really talk about the day.
SPEAKER_00I wanted a Pokedex so bad, bro.
SPEAKER_01Bro, I used to have the 10 of the Pokemon cards, bro. You know when they used to come out with the packs like that, bro. It was different, bro. And then let's not even talk about Pokemon Go. Like that changed, Pokemon Go, bro Pokemon Go chase this shit.
SPEAKER_00I almost got fired from my first job because I was playing Pokemon Go on the Hey, we was in Dubski, it was serious. The streets was lit, bro. Bro, just walking around college, just lit people be like, yo, what are you walking around for? And mind you, we were in the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania. Nowhere, like, bro, listen, uh, I was like, bro, I I saw a blast always like, you know, I'm saying by the way, you know, I just gotta get it.
SPEAKER_01I actually have to get it. I remember beefing over a territory. Remember when you get the territory and somebody come and attack that shit? Like, whatever. Like that shit used to be serious. Were you staring at somebody attacking your shit? But like Pokemon. Bro, I used to carry extra batteries with me. That's how serious. I was like, I'm not out here letting my Pokedex die on me. No way. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00We had a lot of uncomfortable conversations about it.
SPEAKER_01We had to, man. We had to. It's been another episode of Life of Times, episode 15. My co host Carlos. Thank y'all for it's LMPA.
